Land of the Lost


No, I'm not talking about our post election country. I'm talking about the greatest Saturday morning television show of my generation. Well it is now being made into a major motion picture starring Will Ferrell. Here are the details so far:

Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world—a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost.

Sucked alongside him for the adventure are crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will. Chased by T. rex and stalked by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally—a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone)—to navigate out of the hybrid dimension. Escape from this routine expedition gone awry and they’re heroes. Get stuck, and they’ll be permanent refugees in the Land of the Lost.

Based on the classic television series created by Sid & Marty Krofft, Land of the Lost is directed by Brad Silberling and produced by Jimmy Miller and Sid & Marty Krofft.

Until then I thought it would be fun to all sing along to those catchy lyrics as we reminisce about the terrible special effects and corny dialogue which made the show a classic. You know...

Also my favorite growing up. All of my friends were hot for Holly. I don't think I will see the movie though- there is always magic in what we remember, and recreating the magic is impossible (in my opinion). (just like get smart)

Is this serious? Beth and I were just talking about Land of the Lost last Wednesday. Will Ferrell? Wow, I can't wait to see it. I loved Lotl.

After spending much of my full time ministry life in the United Methodist Church, I found this article very interesting. It's written by Mary Jacobs and she nails the fact that most UMCers are scared to death to mention the "S" word (Satan) or the "D" word (Devil). Jesus stood up to him. A piece of me died when I read it but I'm so excited I have tickets to see them in Charlotte this fall. We have several things to let you know about, First of all, we can’t begin to express how excited we are getting about The 7 Tour this fall.
