My Mexico City Mission Trip
This past spring I took a group of 15 college students to the Passion ’08 conference in Atlanta, GA. While there, my students felt an indescribable burden for college students not just in our area or country but also all over the world. As we returned home we focused our prayers on what God’s leading was for our group. Through much prayer and discussion we felt God was leading our group to Mexico City. Mexico City has over 100 college campuses but only 45 have some type of Christian influence. We made a few phone calls and ended up connected with Campus Crusade. Now Beth, myself, and 10 other college / young adults are heading to Mexico City. We’ll spend the first three days assisting Campus Crusade with planting seeds on the 55+ campus that currently have no way to hear the amazing message of Jesus and the final three days assisting Louie Giglio and Passion with the Mexico City Passion Conference where over 20,000 Mexican college students are expected to attend. I am writing you because we can’t do this alone. There are two invaluable ways you can help our group with our journey.
1) PRAY! PRAY! PRAY! We need our trip bathed in prayer starting yesterday. Without the power of the Holy Spirit and the prayers of warriors like you we cannot do this trip. Please keep all 12 of us in mind as we prepare, travel to, and serve Christ in Mexico City by making the name of Jesus known to all. Here are the names of the people going:

2) Financial support. The entire trip will only cost a total of $5,500 for all twelve of us to go. (That’s only $460 per person!) There are three ways you can help:
- Send a contribution of any amount directly to our church being sure to mark it “Mexico City Mission Trip”
- We are hosting a golf tournament Saturday, Sept. 20th in Kernersville. If you would like to sponsor a hole or participate as a golfer please let me know.
- Open a bank account at SunTrust bank. SunTrust has a terrific program going on right now where if you open a checking account they will donate $100 to the charity of your choice. We have partnered with them so any checking account you open SunTrust will gvbe our church / mission team $100. Here are the details on the program:
1) Stop by any SunTrust branch and open a new SunTrust Personal or Business Checking account from now through December 31, 2008.
- Existing customers may open a new account
- There is no minimum to open. You may open it with as little as $5
2) Accept and make any purchase with your new SunTrust Visa® Check Card by February 15, 2009.
3) Complete and submit a redemption form by February 15, 2009.
4) Account must be open and in good standing with a $1.00 or more balance at the time the incentive is paid. All incentives will be mailed by April 15, 2009.
